Hey, as long as you have a place word can get around. :)
22nd-Jan-2008 01:26 am (UTC)
Yeah, we're a real talkative bunch of people, so that shouldn't be any problems getting the word out. :)

If you've got a bit of cut-n-paste code-with-graphics that those of us down on the cobblestoned streets gazing up at the Ophelia could use in our journals, we could pass the word around, too.

Why is it there's never release parties in Michigan? Oh, right. It's 9 degrees outside and horrific. Never mind.
22nd-Jan-2008 04:26 am (UTC)
I miss you guys. :/
22nd-Jan-2008 07:27 am (UTC)

23rd-Jan-2008 07:23 am (UTC)
Can't wait to hear the new stuff!

Checked Bar Sinister's site, but couldn't find any relevant information... any idea what time the party is scheduled for? Need to make plans soon if we're going to be able to make it.
23rd-Jan-2008 10:33 am (UTC) - Passing through Humboldt?
Any chance the Ophelia will be following the coastal route and might pass through Humboldt County? One of my art classmates is in an art cooperative with a performance space in Eureka...
23rd-Jan-2008 07:05 pm (UTC) - Re: Passing through Humboldt?
were is that?
24th-Jan-2008 03:24 am (UTC) - Re: Passing through Humboldt?
Arcata and Eureka (California) are about halfway between Seattle and Los Angeles on Hwy 101. Arcata is home to Humboldt State University, and the whole region is bursting with artists and musicians.

The Synapsis Warehouse arts collective is located in Eureka just outside the Old Town area:

Not far away is our usual punk/alternative venue, the Accident Gallery. We also have various brew pubs around the county, and a few live music/stage theaters on campus and in Eureka. The theatres might be too big/expensive. If the Arcata Theatre would ever open, it would be a good venue, but they're stuck trying to get a loan to finish restoration. I doubt they'll be open before I get my M.A.

The Kinetic Sculpture events in the Pacific Northwest (and elsewhere) are all beloved progeny of the original in Humboldt County, held Memorial Day weekend. Hmmm, a pedal-powered model of the Ophelia crewed by steampunk pirates would be fantastic publicity and very much in the spirit of the event. (Just in case you're considering a sideline in stealing/designing people-powered all-terrain vehicles.) Even just attending in full garb would be a great way to get to know the local DJs and music reviewers, as well as a whole heck of a lot of fun. There's lots of cheering and silliness during the daytime and partying at night. I know they had some bands at the festival at the Manila Dunes checkpoint festival--mostly happy stuff like reggae, though.

Kinetic Universe doesn't have outside merchandising or stuff like that, but if you had a concert booked soon afterwards, you could probably generate enough good PR to sell out a show at our typical venues. On the last day of the race, there's a lot of waiting around for the sculptures to make it to the finish line, and the MCs get very creative filling time. They'd be happy to talk to a visiting pirate crew of rock musicians who came all the way from Seattle for the race.

I was playing my new MP3s last night while cleaning house, and my non-Goth roommate complimented your music.
