Pirate Hook
23rd-Oct-2007 09:28 am
In order complete the nemethes family Peter Pan customes, it has been formally requested that I become Captian Hook. I am ALWAYS a pirate, but this requires special attention.

WHERE CAN I FIND AN ELEGANT, METAL PIRATE HAND HOOK? Price is not a concern, just quality.

Other things a need: a decent hat, and a mustache. I can't grow a big 'stache in a week.

You do ventilating? If you don't mind my asking, what are your rates for such? I often end up needing to contract out my ventilating work for productions, and haven't been too keen on the work I've gotten from those local to me.

yes i do. i currently have a full time season contract so i don't really have a lot of free time. and i don't know how to say this and not sound horribly bitchy, but i'm also pretty reluctant to do that kind of business with someone i don't know. a few years ago you asked me to make you some falls and after doing so i never heard from you again.

wait, was that me?

I am still looing to pay someone to make some falls for Kristina...I would pay in advance.

*laugh* no, not you. i was talking to someone else.

and i still really want to make some stuff for you guys but time is just something i don't have at the moment. but i promise one day i'll just tell you that i'm sending you something cool.

I totally understand season contract business.

As for falls- you sure that was me? I've considered having falls made before, but don't recall ever actually gotten past the idea building stage with them. Email me at lily.wasik AT gmail.com 'cause if it IS me, I totally want to remedy the situation- people shouldn't be left hanging and if I did do that with you, it was completely unintentional.

There's a pirate store in Seattle along the waterfront, Pirate's Booty or something, and I believe I saw such a hook in their glass case. Be careful entering the place, the next thing you'll know you'll have spent a good chunk of change.

Or, get a custom made one from the fine folks at Black Dog Forge on 2nd & Bell. Just send them an email to see what they can do. Dan Schwarz made me a custom pair of spurs that are so gorgeous I'm afraid to wear them for fear of losing them.

called Pirates Pluder, they only carry cheesy plastic ones. but thatnks! http://www.piratesplunder.com

Writing to the forge now.

23rd-Oct-2006 06:37 pm (UTC) - Oh... did I mention Abney Park?
My suggestion with such short notice would eb to go to a butcher and purchase a real meathook, then a little creativity with a piece of suede leather, eyelets, and leather lace. Hold the hook, and have someone tie the 'sleeve' over your paw (or hand).

My birthday present to you and Kristina both. I know yours was I while back, but I'm slow sometimes, although I DO mean well.

Please share it with all of your pals out there. I would have emailed it, but it's a rather LARGE file.

Start hitting up antique ardware stores like mad, my friend. You ought to be able to find a large, decorative hook for a good price. Then, attatch it to the bottom of one of those huge-ass plastic tumblers, or other such shit, and cover it with gathered white fabric around the hook, and black velvet around the rest. I'm sure you can also manage to rig a way to grip the thing; you're a clever lad.

"where can I FIND an elegant..."

FIND, and in buy. Make I can handle, but time rightnow is more valuable then money, so BUY becomes a better option then "create".

See link below. The thing is I don't think they could have one to you in time. But it is possible one of their dealers might.

Description: Custom made, hand engraved Hook, worn by Dustin Hoffman.
Construction: Sterling Silver & forged steel

O my god, that brings back memories.
I actually watched Hook two nites ago, I used to watch it religiously as a child.
Because where I had a crush on Peter Pan in the Disney version, I had such a thing for Captain Hook in that film.
And that hook used to haunt taunt my dreams! Yowza, thank you for posting that.
