MAN DOWN, MAN DOWN!!!
26th-Apr-2008 11:26 am
Jean-Paul our current bass player joined us as a "temporary fill in" for just a couple shows. Nearly a year and a half later, it looks like his life is pulling him away from us (his band Civita is going great!).

That leaves us one bass short of a full deck, and we are starting to talk with candidates about this.

We've got
We've got neat stuff coming up, including concerts all over the country, and a tour in Australia, and we are currently writing our new album! Now is a great time to come in...AFTER we've paid our dues (grumble grumble). If your interested, email me: robert@abneypark.com with your name, were you live (or where you'd be living if you go the part), and what you've done musically.

(PS: if you a are a promoter reading this, have no fear!  Jean-Paul is sticking around as long as another year if we need him!)

lol Actually, that would be fittingly awesome! **grins**

I'll poke around under rocks and such and see if I can find some of my old buds from back in the day and help spread the word for you. Good luck guys.

Sadly, I have yet to learn to play bass, and live in the opposite corner of the country from you, but if you're ever looking for a concert photographer, I'm your man.

Hehe. I think I found a fretless bass to practice on :) If you haven't found someone in a few months, I'll totally try out for the gig.

I personally wanna see more images of that awesome as hell steampunk bass guitar...

Pretty, pretty please with steampunky sprinkles on top?

Now, more than ever, I wish I had learned how to play bass rather than regular guitar. :)

Ah well, I will stick with my favored tasks of merch girl and making things for the band (and their children). :)

26th-Apr-2007 11:23 pm (UTC)
Too bad you guys are so far away. I would start begging to get an audition ;)
27th-Apr-2007 12:30 am (UTC)
yeah, we are always far away from someone.
26th-Apr-2007 11:55 pm (UTC)
Oh how briliant! You're coming to Australia!
Actually, it's a pity you're not here already. My husband is an excellent bass player.
27th-Apr-2007 02:03 am (UTC)
I just let one of my friends know about this. As far as I know, he's never heard your music, but he's been playing bass for well over 10 years (maybe 15!).
Anyhow, good luck with your search!

yeah, we kind of need both.
28th-Apr-2007 01:47 am (UTC)
Where abouts do you practice? Gig Harbor?
28th-Apr-2007 03:26 am (UTC)
50 % Seattle, 50% Tacoma (closer then were my birthday was). Any seattle peeps could commute down with Nathan when we do practice down here.

Why?
28th-Apr-2007 03:39 am (UTC)
Well... we've slowed down alot in the past few months (TAS), but we're still active enough that we need to share a practice spot with someone. In sharing a practice spot, i'd like to do it with another band i could possibly collaborate/play with.

I realize it'd be pretty far fetched to think we could find both a spot where we could practice as well as another band i could play with, but i'm gonna hunt for it anyway.

To wrap this up - i played bass in a live playing band for 6 and a half years and could easily fill the spot. Now that i'm comfortable with the slow crawl of TAS, i'd like to branch out and play with some other people. Abney Park, of course, would be great fun. Even a side project... hell... anything. We just need a spot and i need to play more music with numerous people.

Thoughts?

I love the idea.

28th-Apr-2007 04:28 pm (UTC)
Heh - it is a fabulous idea, i must admit. Where it joins with reality is the difficult part.

Hey hey - my apologies for the delayed response. We're preparing to move all of our belongings a few miles down the road and the insanity level is on high. :)

I can be reached at thearidsea@hotmail.com most dependably. I'll go shoot you an email from there so we can continue this conversation outside of LJ.
