Put (no) money where your mouth is!

Last week we all helped spread the word to get a little puppy rescued from a kill shelter...and it worked! The puppy was in fact adopted.

At the time, a bunch of you said things like "If he was closer to me..." or "If I had the money to adopt him...". Well, now both those problem are going away!

Change a Pet's Life Day on Jan. 24
over 3,000 adoption centers will be free for just this day!

All of my critters have been shelter rescues. If I didn't already have two dogs and two cats, I'd happily adopt another. I hope this campaign is a huge success. Also, a "thank you" for being a friend of shelter animals yourself. You have a following. That matters.

AWW, yay!

We have 3 dogs and 3 cats - all rescues - so we're full up at the moment, but if we weren't I'd be tempted. I'm going to repost though, just in case anyone else was considering a new pet.

Squee! This makes me wish we'd waited a few more months to get our shelter kitties. (Can't add another cat to the herd, sadly - small apartment.)

All four of my cats have been rescues and not all of them were adopted as kittens either. I very well may consider adopting a fifth cat since we have plenty of room at our house for another. Thank you for informing us of this!

The Feeding is Believing site with the list of participating shelters actually says that the first 10 adoptions that day at the shelter will be free. Everything after that won't be covered by Science Diet, and at least with my locals shelters, it doesn't look like anything after will be free. So get there early!

Aw, why must live here?! We already weren't supposed to have the animals we have now, there's no way we could get another!! But I'll be supportive of this!! :)))

If you can't have a dog... Donate Money. We give money to the Seattle Pug rescue fund since we can't adopt another animal.

You got a PUG? Awesome. I had a black pug named Budda for his whole life. I miss the little snort.

Thank you for your successful efforts to save the puppy and for posting the information about "Change a Pet's Life Day."

Every drop in the bucket helps.

Only one shelter in Washington participating? That's pretty sad. You'd think with all the news about shelter overcrowding here, they would have stepped up.
14th-Jan-2009 11:53 pm (UTC)
yes, the thought that "We have too many, but we won't let them out for free...we'd rather kill them" is just a bit to in-humaine/stoopid/evil for me.

I hope LOADS of animals get adopted and saved!

I so want to adopt another dog, but unfortunately I can't afford the pet fees at my apartment. :(

:3 Now you can do this for Parrot rescues!
Since parrots are the 3rd most common pets and have the same problem of being abandoned, abused, and given up etc. Most parrot rescues are too full with parrots from Budgies to African Greys to Blue and Gold Macaws!
